Time Travel
Time travel is difficult—in fact, it's arguably impossible outside of mainstream cinema. Look up time travel over at Expedia, and the farthest they can send you is probably January of 2009...in a couple of years. Is time travel just a movie dream or is it an actual science that can proved or disproved? Time travel has been mentioned over the last few centuries in fiction and nonfiction. In Samuel Madden's “Memoirs of the Twentieth Century” (1733) allusions to time travel are mentioned when the British foreign office replies to letters written from the years 1997 and 1998. Some myth surrounds that book, as supposedly the futuristic letters were given to the narrator by his guardian angel one night in 1728. Time Travel Theories In the philosophy of time travel, many theories have emerged. Special and general relativity suggests that suitable geometries of specific types of motion in space may allow time travel into the past and future. The direction of time travel is also an issue, as most physicists avoid the term of “traveling” through time, as if a person is merely changing spatial position. The philosophy of time travel is linked to the scientific fact that if one were to move away from the Earth at relativistic velocities and then return to Earth, that more time would have passed on the planet than for the traveler. These sorts of concepts lend credibility to the notion that time travel is possible, though a hardly scientific fact. |

Other “loopholes” come into consideration when discussing the proposed reality of time flight travel. Science aside, what would happen if someone were to go back in time and accidentally kill their own grandfather? Would the present traveler still exist? Stephen Hawking also made a valid point when he speculated that if destination time travel really were possible, wouldn't the present be over run by tourists from the future? There is also the belief of presentism, which suggests that neither the future nor the past actually “exists” and that universal matter only exists in the present; hence, what we know as instructions on time travel are actually just human perceptions to describe what is going on around them.
Time Travel Movies All of this speculation has led to some very interesting movies and literature on the speculated reality of time travel. Time travel clocks, time travel devices and time travel machine have been explored in great works of fiction, and are not available on Ebay, sad to say. Nobody has successfully been able to prove the theory of time travel, from Stephen Hawking to Andy Pero, the notorious survivor of a secret mind control project...who actually never traveled back in time, despite his other claim to fame. It would be amazing though, if someone actually did figure out a way to travel back in time. Then he could really impress his friends while |
